I do not want to continuously post about this, I am hoping this is the last time I do post on things related to the bushfire emergency, but this story this morning demanded sharing: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-01-08/fires-misinformation-being-spread-through-social-media/11846434
This blog does not have a large following or a large number of visits, it is not going to change the world and people’s perceptions about anything but I felt it was important to highlight the importance of truth on the internet and how important it is for all of us to be critical consumers of information and whenever and wherever necessary call out misinformation and highlight the need for integrity.
Hi Sharon, like you, I rely on the ABC for my information too but it is important for all us to always check the facts. I am always amazed at how people will believe anything that comes across some social media channels. I think you undersell yourself. Even if you just influence one person, that influence can have a ripple effect. Maybe we can’t change the world, but you never know what we can do, one person at a time.

Thank you Karen, I was a bit surprised by the abc story and just thought I would share it. I am not a big user of social media but reading the story I just thought I should try and highlight it. I have been surprised by some of the things I have seen online or heard repeated, I don’t expect to really influence anyone but I wanted to highlight things like that in the hope that we can keep conversations informed and helpful.
