It has been an absolutely appalling week in regards to blogging, not only have I been failing to post, I have been really slack about checking in and reading other blogs, something I normally love doing but apathy and lockdown blues seem to have really taken hold over the last week BUT not any more! Today is the start of a great new week.

Over the last week I have been reading the wonderful Phosphorescence by Julia Baird and it is this week’s #BookSnapSunday post, this is a great collection of essays by the incomparable Ms Baird, political journalist, historian and sometimes host of the ABC’s The Drum. This is an absolutely gorgeous book, how great is that cover? A collection of essays; “On awe, wonder, and things that sustain you when the world goes dark”, a perfect lockdown read. It has helped me shake free of this pervasive depressive apathy that has been a side effect of the current restrictive circumstances we find ourselves in.

#BookSnapSunday is a weekly bookish Instagram meme hosted here at Gum trees and Galaxies.com, if you would like to join in please feel free to leave a link to your post in the comments below. Happy reading.

  1. I agree, a great cover and sounds like a very timely collection of essays. Glad that it has given you a much needed boost. Our current situation does seem to be never-ending and I think we all have experienced a little apathy from time to time. Hope you have a great week. 😀

    1. It is one of those books that helps restore a sense of perspective and it is lovely to indulge in an inspirational read that speaks so much to the things I also cherish. May your week be great also. 🌻
