Time is an illusion. Lunchtime doubly so.”
― Douglas Adams, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy

Today is the 25th of May, towel day, the day we remember the wonderful comic author Douglas Adams, author of The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy series, Dirk Gently’s Holistic detective agency and one time script editor of Doctor Who. I remember when I first read The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy ,I couldn’t put it down, nor could I stop laughing. Restaurant at the end of the Universe, the second book in the series is probably my favourite from the whole series, absolutely loved these books.

As a chronic procrastinator my favourite Adams quote is probably this one:

“I love deadlines. I love the whooshing noise they make as they go by. – Douglas Adams The Salmon of Doubt

Celebrate towel day and remember to carry your towel with you everywhere. (See previous post). Don’t forget there is a Stay in for Towel day event hosted by the Save the Rhino organisation, Adams, also an environmental activist was a founding patron of Save the Rhino, and a dedicated spokesperson for the rhino until his death.

  1. Just love Douglas Adams. I have been a fan of ‘Hitchikers’ since I discovered the books, the radio 4 broadcast and then the BBC series in the 1980s. More recently, Dirk Gently has been helping us through lockdown on Netflix – when we’ve had internet!
