So this weekend didn’t go quite as planned. Did an overnight camp at Flanagan Reserve, fair to say not one of our better camping weekends, but more of that to come, for now just the quick weekly BookSnap. Not a great photo but it is a great book, Dara McAnulty’s Diary of a Young Naturalist.
This is an amazing, insightful read. A great book not just for the beautiful nature writing but it is a valuable read for the insight it gives to the lived experience of autism and asperger’s. Dara’s diary, written as a 15 year old is a well deserving winner of the Wainwright prize, the youngest person ever to win the Wainwright. Dara has a remarkable voice for such a young writer, he captures the natural world so eloquently and advocates powerfully for it’s protection. If ever there was a time to listen to the voices of the young that time is now.
#BookSnapSunday is a weekly bookish Instagram meme hosted here at Gum trees and Galaxies.com, if you would like to join in please feel free to leave a link to your post in the comments below. All you have to do is post an image of a book. Happy reading!
