#BookSnapSunday from #LightningRidge Picked up a copy of the Idriess book Lightning Ridge an insight into times past. Idriess writes lovingly of the Australian bush but there is so much destruction of the original habitat recorded. Props are some opal chips, some postcards from the opal and fossil centre featuring Lightning Claw a pretty fearsome megaraptorid, a sprig of Wilga. #BooksandCoffee #booksandnature #naturewriting #bookkstagram #books
Australian opal and fossil centre, fascinating tiny fossils fragments and miniature pine cones from deep time, kind of magical. #LightningRidge #fossils #opal #australianopalcentre
Surprising the things you find underground and it is not just opals and fossils. Visited the Chambers of the black hand. What opal miners do when they get bored and the opal is elusive. Amazingly this was all done by an untrained artist with a bread and butter knife and a fork, his lunch tools basically. Loving #LightningRidge #chambersoftheblackhand
Just meeting the locals at#LightningRidge went to have a look at #stanleytheemu and these guys came to have a look at us.
#BookSnapSunday This is going to be the year of deep time and dinosaurs, dipping back into some dinosaur reading in preparation for some adventures in fossil and opal country. I never out grew dinosaurs they still captivate me. #bookkstagram #bookstargram #books #dinosaurs #fossil
Happy Easter! An Aussie kids book for #BookSnapSunday the beautifully illustrated The Drop Bear by Chris Esser, the story of the legendary drop bear the more dangerous cousin to the koala. Look after the bushland or the drop bear may drop on you. Love the illustrations in this gorgeous kids book and the message of caring for the bushland we visit. #BooksandCoffee
Need to get up earlier so I start day with s swim every day and not just on my late start day. #swimming #toowoombaregion #gettingfit? Morning swimming makes me happy
This week's #BookSnapSunday is Wyndham's creepy invasion tale The Midwich cuckoos, heavy on the cosy element, think Dr Who meets Midsomer murders. Love Wyndham's classic, very English sci-fi, really enjoying the #wyndhamalong2021 #bookkstagram #Books #booksandtea #midwichcuckoos
Just chilling with some classic sci-fi and my book buddy. Wyndham's The Midwich cuckoos, the ultimate creepy kids book. #wyndhamalong2021 #booksanddogs #bookstagram #books #rescuedogsofinstagram #rescuedogs
